Trip To Baduy

Here we go.. my trip to Baduy tribe. I decide to visit this place because it reminds me about my village. I departed from Tangerang (where i live) and towards to the meeting point in Station Duri Jakarta to meet my new friends. After that we head to Rangkas Bitung it takes 3 hours by train, and we stop in Ciboleger, Rangkas Bitung to continue the journey with minibus.

After arriving there, we were greeted by the Baduy people are dressed in white and black they only use 2 colors, black and white it's because of their tradition, and they are not allowed to wear footwear, such as shoes or sandal, may not use transportation tools such as cars, motorcycles if they would go to somewhere they have to walk, also should not use the soap, toothpaste all the chemical based, as a visitors were not allowed to use soap, shampoo or toothpaste too when going to bathe in the river because they believe it will pollute their environment.

And we start for travel to Baduy Village it take 3 hour, i hope the track not difficult. While i walk i took pictures left and right of the houses here, they are exactly the same house with my grandfather's village called "Rumah Panggung" or houses on stilts because the houses in the crutch by the stones below, it is because to avoid wild animals such as wild boar, dogs or snakes. (opps... blurry, i don't have clean picture for this).

They sell their own handicrafts like cloth Sasak, and clothest typical Baduy also natural forest honey.

Most of them are farmers', and only rely on natural products. After we walk a while we were treated to views the river. Nature always made me comfortable i feel like wanna jump in there.

It's me when i was in bamboo bridge.

I thought the track will be easy, but is not easy at all .. hahaha
because when it rained and made it difficult to walk.

Some friends there who slipped because the track was very slippery. it's better if you go in summer.

View from the top of the hill.

After a hiking taking nearly 3 hours, we finally arrived at the housing Baduy, but unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures in inside Baduy. Night here very quiet no electricity, no tv, radio, phone, i can't use my phone because no signal here. There's no activity at the night just only some of the music of the Kecapi (a stringed instruments such as the harp). I decide to go out in that night to see them play music and feel the beauty of the sky and the air in Baduy. The next day we prepared to return to Jakarta, but before that we will visit a phenomenal root bridge because the bridge made from the root of the tree and is still used.

So overall it's easy to get there. If you are in Jakarta you can take train KRL from station Jakarta Kota to station Duri, transit and change the economic train with destination Rangkas Bitung. Get off at the station Rangkas and continue the journey by minibus.

Price for ticket train Jakarta - Duri : Rp 3.500
